Description
IBOLOGY is Bob Saunders, creator of Approaching Infinity
History
History: Approaching Infinity was conceived in 2013, after my 5th playthrough of Borderlands 2. I hit the level cap and still wanted MORE: the next best gun, a better shield, more skill points!
I'd been making roguelikes since 2006, and a life-long fan of science fiction, so I gathered these inspirations and came up with a space roguelike with unlimited "floors" (sectors of space), enemies, and items.
After successfully kickstarting the project, it was published in 2015 by Shrapnel Games, and they held exclusive distribution rights.
In 2020, right before the pandemic lockdowns started, I got the rights back to my beloved universe. August 2020 it was released on Steam and it has changed my life. I now work on Approaching Infinity full time.
Future: Approaching Infinity is under rapid development while in Early Access on Steam, and is expected to hit full release (v2.0) in Q1 2024. There is still a lot to do: v1.8 will begin in March 2023 and covers the overhaul of many aspects of the "spaceship" side of the game, most notably combat. Hopefully this will take no more than 3 months. v1.9 will tie everything up, including additional major quest lines and a re-design of the user interface. The remainder of development time will be consumed with polishing the game for full release. It is expected that several major content DLCs will follow.
